Story Stiridh - Storytelling Evening

Gauri is a storyteller, anthropologist and a migrant to the UK. She works multilingually, recognising the cadences of English spoken in different cultures. She tells folk tales, fairy tales and myths from non-European parts of the world. She also works extensively with biographical storytelling, especially with vulnerable adults and in the outdoors. Much of her community based work has been focused among migrants and the diaspora communities to the UK and among theatre persons, writers, charity workers, universities, teachers and students in India. Her performance projects include directing East of the Sun, West of the Moon, a collection of stories for adults from around the world translated and told in 4 different Indian languages, Badlands, a storytelling of folk stories of the land and rivers of central India and Tales of Exile and Sanctuary, stories from around the world exploring themes of exile. She has researched and co-written a book with biographical stories of South Asian migrants to the West of Scotland with AwazFM, Glasgow called Making Lives, Making Communities: Scottish Asians in Glasgow. Gauris current projects are focused around stories of water and creating workshops that create deeper connections between migrant communities and the land.
