Story Stiridh - Children's Storytelling

Story Stiridh - Kid's Club! Join us for a very special Children's storytelling session with storytelling legend and seasoned children's performer Michael Kerins! Michael tells tall and fantastical stories, blending folktales and contemporary life. A self-confessed wacky storyteller, his style breathes the humour, cheek and survivors instinct of folktales through the centuries. He regularly works with children, whom he likes to involve in the action and development of the stories. He is interested in language acquisition and the way children express themselves through story, and has worked with medical educators at Glasgow University, at sales seminars, in-service days and conferences. He is currently enjoying writing about Wee Tom and sharing his tiny adventures in classrooms and community settings in Scotland and further afield. Born and brought up in Possilpark in a large family, Michael became accustomed to the use of precise but uncomplicated language, since both his parents were registered blind, and his own imagination was nurtured by his fathers storytelling. He made his debut as a storyteller during the Glasgow Year of Culture in 1990, and has appeared since then at the Scottish International Storytelling Festival, on the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and at events overseas. Michael has been an official mentor and member of The Scottish Storytelling Forum since 1988. In 2009 and 2010 he was a chairman of Glasgow Storytellers. He is famous for being a founder or co-founder of various clubs and projects both in Scotland and worldwide, including the Better Crack Club (Glasgow's oldest storytelling club) and the Even Better Crack Club (Glasgow's oldest storytelling club for children of all ages). Story Stiridh is made possible through the generous sponsorship provided by Highland Fastners Ltd.
